“Beat Cancer” Game this Saturday: Cardinals vs Roadrunners for a Good Cause

Once again, athletes from Central Decatur and Interstate-35 will team up for a good cause.

Beat Cancer Night has been scheduled for this Saturday, January 13 with activities beginning at noon. All proceeds from this event will go towards the Journey for Joy Foundation, Inc.

The games for the afternoon are as follows: noon – MS boys in the middle school gym; noon – MS girls will play in the high school gym; 3:00 p.m. – JV boys will play in the high school gym; 5:00 p.m. – Varsity girls will play in the high school gym; and 6:30 p.m. – the Varsity boys will play in the high school gym.

While the games are being played, other activities will be taking place.

A silent auction begins at noon in the high school commons area.

At 4:00 p.m., a meal will be served by the Journey for Joy members. Then, at 4:50 a pre-game recognition will be held .

Then, at 6:15 a live auction with special guest auctioneer Jason Dent (aka Whistle Nut) and a local and national celebrity, will take place. Also at this time the silent auction ends.

During halftime of the varsity girls and varsity boys games, chuck-a-duck will be held in addition to a flag performance by the Central Decatur Flag Corps.

The evening will conclude with a high school dance starting at 8:30 p.m.

According to activities director Zach Clark, there will be a limited number of “Beat Cancer” shirts available the day of the event.

So, come out to the school to support the youth, watch basketball, and support a worthy cause.
